How fit do I need to be to climb?
You don't need to be a marathon runner, but you do need good cardiovascular fitness and stamina. We recommend training for 3–4 months prior, focusing on hiking with a backpack, running, or stair climbing. The mental determination is just as important as physical strength.
Which Kilimanjaro route has the highest success rate?
We highly recommend the Lemosho Route (8 Days) or the Machame Route (7 Days). These longer routes allow your body more time to acclimatize to the altitude, giving you a success rate of over 85-90%. Shorter routes (like 5-day Marangu) have lower success rates because the ascent is too fast.
What about Altitude Sickness?
Altitude sickness can happen to anyone, regardless of fitness. Our guides are trained to monitor your health daily using pulse oximeters. We follow the "Climb High, Sleep Low" strategy to help your body adjust. Drinking plenty of water (3-4 liters a day) and walking slowly ("Pole Pole") are the keys to staying healthy.
What do I need to pack?
You need layers! The weather changes from tropical heat at the bottom to freezing arctic conditions at the top. We will provide a detailed packing list upon booking. If you don't have heavy gear (like sleeping bags or down jackets), you can rent high-quality equipment directly from us.
Is it safe to camp in the National Parks?
Yes, absolutely. Our campsites are in designated areas. While animals do roam freely at night, our experienced guides and park rangers ensure your safety. It is a magical experience to hear a lion roar in the distance while you are safe in your tent!
